Founded in 1820
Bethel Church of Winston Salem was established in 1820, making it one of the oldest continuous congregations in the region. What began as a small gathering of faithful believers over two centuries ago has grown into a vibrant church family, committed to glorifying God and serving our community.
Rooted in the rich traditions of Christian faith, our church was originally part of a major denomination and played a vital role in the spiritual and social life of our community. Through seasons of revival, challenge, and growth, Bethel Church has remained a place where the Word of God is preached, lives are transformed, and Christ is made known.
In recent years, God led us into a new season of independence. After much prayer and discernment, we made the decision to disaffiliate from our former denomination. This was not just an organizational shift, but a spiritual renewal—an opportunity to return fully to the foundations of Scripture, Spirit-led leadership, and Christ-centered mission.
Today, as Bethel Church of Winston Salem, we honor the faith of those who came before us while pressing forward into God’s calling for the future. Our mission remains clear: to proclaim the Gospel, make disciples, and be a light in our community.
